ENHANCING LEARNING AND INTEGRATION TO PREVENT AND CONTRAST ESL AND NEET

Second English Multiplier Event

This event concentrated on examining the employer’s role in tackling youth unemployment and engaging a number of employers to participate in the UK pilot. It became clear that the process by which young people move into employment is becoming more difficult.

Although the UK the number of unemployed youths has decreased, the fact that young people are finding the transition from education and unemployment into work more difficult raises important questions about the relationship between employers and young people.  At the meeting we sought to present and engage employers into using the SAVE system, tools and resources.

However, it was clear that employers also needed resources to give them guidance and advice.  In particular they expressed a need for support in how to deliver effective work experience and how to support the process of transition from education/training into work.  The event led to a number of SAVE recommendations and resources for employers being developed (O4 and O5).
